Our Spirituality

The Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross lives the Franciscan spirituality. The spirit of the Congregation is the spirit of the Gospel which animated St. Francis of Assisi. We gladly steep ourselves in the message of the Gospel. The heart of our spirituality is the Paschal Mystery - the death and Resurrection of Jesus. CROSS is at the centre of our lives.

The spirit of the Congregation is in particular the spirit of the Cross, for we are called the Sisters of the Holy Cross. The Cross is the mystery of God’s love for us, for “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost but have eternal life”. (Jn. 3:16).

The spirit of the Congregation is the Franciscan spirit. We honour St. Francis of Assisi as the Father of the Order. We belong to his great religious family.

The spirit of sisterly love and community belongs to the spirit of the Congregation after the example set us by St. Francis. In this spirit we desire to serve one another and fulfil our common work.
